Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Who is LED Light Therapy good for?

    • Anyone who is booking a facial session with In-Symmetry Spa should consider adding on LED light therapy to enhance the effectiveness of your facial experience - especially if you're looking to reduce fine lines and improve skin texture. However, there are a few scenarios where LED light therapy might not be right for you. See the next FAQ.

  2. Who is the LED Light Therapy add-on not good for?

    1. LED light therapy is not suitable for everyone, and there are several contraindications to consider, including:

      • Medications. Taking certain medications can increase your sensitivity to sunlight and make LED light therapy unsafe. These include but may not be limited to: Isotretinoin, Lithium, Tetracycline, Chlorpromazine (Thorazine), Griseofulvin (Fulvicin).

      • Skin conditions. People with a history of skin cancer or skin conditions that make you sensitive to light should avoid LED light therapy.

      • Eye conditions. People with diseases that involve the retina of the eye, such as diabetes, should avoid LED light therapy.

      • Other medical conditions. People with epilepsy, migraines brought on by light, or thyroid conditions should avoid LED light therapy.

This is not a substitute for medical advice. You should always consult your physician before beginning LED light therapy if you have any uncertainties.

  3. What can I expect during an LED light therapy add-on?

    1. Your professional esthetician will add on 30 minutes to your facial for the LED light therapy experience. We will provide special eye-protection sunglasses and then a semi-circular light device will be placed close to your face which will emit the LED light therapy. During the LED light treatment, you will feel a warm sensation. Some say it feels like lying on the beach and basking in the sun without the harmful UV rays. Others say it feels relaxing and rejuvenating. Your skin should get no more than slightly warm, but the "glow" sensation can last hours after your treatment.

  4. I have more questions about LED light therapy, can you answer them?

    1. Yes! Please feel free to text us with any questions at 415-634-0094. Or, of course, you may also email us through the website or call us.
